So the idea here is to take advantage of the Selesnya deck’s utility and ability to go wide and put it together with Boros/white removal and combat versatility to dominate the board. What I’ve arrived at so far is the following (manabase still under review, but I’m going for 24 lands).Ĥx ] 4x ] 4x ] 4x ] 3x ] 2x ] 1x ] 1x ]Ĥx ] 2x ]Ģx ] 2x ] 2x ] 1x ] So, since I just got back to playing MTG (picked up after Ixalan came out), I’ve noticed that the metagame in Standard seems to be forming around Midrange (Golgari value decks, usually) and Control, and I’ve started toying around with the Naya Midrange/Stompy idea again. Real TLDR: I suck at sideboarding and I can't beat Bant company, please help.Īlso sorry if this formatting sucks, I'm bad at reddit.Back in Odyssey Block I built a Naya deck that ran kind of like Fires of Yavimaya with hard to kill creatures like Phantom Centaur and loads of utility creatures to gain board position and run over aggressive decks whilst still being kind of resilient against control decks. For example against Bant company this is what I would do: Out: 1 Nissa, 1 Nahiri, 2 Oath In: 1 Radiant Flames, 2 Tragic Arrogance, 1 Dragonlord Dromoka (maybe consider Chandra instead of Dromoka) This just seems wrong but I can't figure out how to do it correctly. I think I take the wrong things out and put the wrong things in a lot of the time. I also think my sideboarding game is my weakest part of playing magic. So how do I improve this list specifically against the Bant company matchup? I could run another Radiant Flames in the board? That doesn't seem like enough. 1 Nahiri, the Harbinger Against midrange this comes in also if I really need to destroy enchantment I'll bring it in but that's generally a mistake I think. 2 Hidden Dragonslayer Bring it in against anything running big powerful creatures. She's a bit harder to cast cause I have limited red sources. Used to have her in the main when I was running 4 Oath of Nissa. 1 Chandra Flamecaller She's in the board usually ignore her tho, never seems good enough to bring in. 1 Radiant Flames Against company, gb, humans, tokens. 3 Surrak, the Hunt Caller Bring this in against control and ramp. 1 Dragonlord Dromoka Bring this in against midrange decks. 2 Tireless Tracker This goes in against control and ramp generally 2 Clip Wings Comes in against Esper Dragons and westvale decks. Replay next turn.Ģ Tragic Arrogance Great against everything going wide. Can't play spells on my turn and life gain. Feels good to fetch it with Nahiri against company decks. I can grab it with Nahiri or I can just play it straight up. 1 Dragonlord Dromoka Very strong card in this meta. 1 Linvala, the Preserver More toolbox cards for Nahiri, I'll gain 5 and take a 3/3 flyer against any deck going wide. Can clean up an aristocrats board and beat face for 8. 1 Dragonlord Atarka Mainly for fetching into play with Nahiri. However I am considering it in the board against company after seeing Steve Rubin nuke a board with it and Avacyn. It's a fantastic card, I'd like to run hangarback with it but I can't fit hangarback in the deck and exile removal is strong right now. 2 Archangel Avacyn Was running 1 then I played a lot more with it and bumped it up to 2. 4 Sylvan Advocate My other early board stabilizer, more consistently good than Pacifist especially since late game the card is nuts and I'm never unhappy to see this card. Also if it transforms beating for 4 on turn 3 is crazy. Dromokas command on this turns it's combat on. It's extremely powerful and it helps stabilize my board early to protect my walkers. 3 Lambholt Pacifist I want to run 4 of this card but don't know what to cut, this has been one of the most impressive cards in the deck. I don't like having this card in my hand with no other option on turn 2. 3 Den Protector I wish I could run 4 of this card because of the pure card advantage and value it generates but 3 feels like a good amount. 4 Deathmist Raptor - Great card, fits naturally into the deck, discarding this to Nahiri feels great when you flip a Den Pro.
